    Ravi Naidoo is the Founder and Managing Director of Interactive Africa, a Cape Town based media and marketing company. Ravi completed his MBA degree at University of Cape Town in 1994, where he was nominated as the Nedbank MBA Student of the Year. Ravi also has a B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Physiology from UCT. Besides the three years as an account director at Young and Rubicam (1990 - 1993), where Ravi managed a number of multinational accounts, his main business interests have always been on media, creativity, marketing and project management.

    In 1994 Ravi founded Interactive Africa. The company’s initial recognition came through the project management of the First African in Space Mission and the marketing and pitching of South Africa’s bid to host the 2010 Football World Cup, as well as for the 2006 campaign. He also consulted to the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games company, assisting in their successful campaign, and directed the 1999 African Connection Rally, a roadshow from the northern to the southern tip of Africa to promote telecommunications investment in Africa. Further, he is a co-founder of the Cape IT Initiative (CITI), a non-profit company dedicated to promoting the IT cluster in the Western Cape.

    Nonetheless, Ravi is possibly best known for establishing the international Design Indaba, which has become recognized as one of the world’s leading design institutions through its flagship conference and festival annually held in Cape Town.

    Ravi has been selected as the 2015 recipient of the prestigious Sir Misha Black Award for his contribution to design education in South Africa, and is a renowned player on the field of creativity and design throughout Africa. He sits on the jury of the Index Awards (the world’s richest design prize) in Copenhagen, and holds a seat on the jury of the Dutch Design Awards.

    Ravi was a judge for the D&AD Impact Awards 2016, and has also been appointed as Chairman of the 2017 IXDA Awards.

    In 2017, Ravi was awarded The Design Prize in the communications category, a global annual award program to celebrate excellence on a global scale. He is also curating Design Commons, a new design conference produced in partnership with Helsinki Design Week.

  • Robyn Campbell

    Bibliography :

    During Robyn's 8 years at the company, she has facilitated work that uses a combination of smart strategy and forward-thinking technology resulting in numerous award wins at the Loerie and Bookmark awards.

    While her core focus in strategy, design and social media, as the Cape Town Managing Director, she participates in all departments and facets of the business that form part of the Hellocomputer offering.

    Maintaining strong client relationships is the foundation of her role and she is involved in every step from initial pitches through to contracts and delivery. Robyn’s time at Hellocomputer has been one of exponential growth for the agency, and for herself, working on a range of clients including Pernod Ricard and Investec Asset Management.

  • Anthony Lopez

    Bibliography :

    Anthony Lopez completed his graphic design program from NID in 1990. His interest in working across creative fields, led him to start two collaborative ventures. Lopez Design, which he founded in 1997, specializes in an interdisciplinary approach for branding and communications.

    For Anthony, design is a way of life. His passion for the creative field was fuelled early in his life and he worked in printing, typography and photography much before joining the formal design program at NID. A keen observer known for his critical choice making, Anthony is deeply immersed in delivering effective branding across media by harnessing research and strategy. His ability to create authentic branding statements with original and relevant content has given a measurable edge to his customers. His vision for shaping projects takes a people-centric approach and he pushes his team to surpass client expectations. In New Delhi, Lopez Design today is an internationally recognized firm for brand identity known for its professional integrity, reliability, quality of design and execution. Clients include Bihar Museum, STL, DLF, PwC, Mercer, Ernst & Young, United Biscuits, the Murugappa Group, Sify, The Telegraph (Anand Bazar Patrika Group), Kuoni Travels, Whirlpool and social entities like UNICEF, WHO, USAID. The firm has garnered several accolades including the American Design Award, The Business World Design Excellence Award and the 2014 CII Design Excellence award in the Branded Environments category. Lopez Design won Pool Magazine’s awards (IBDSA) for Best Branding Design Studio in 2015 following up in 2016 with Best Graphic Design Studio.

    A natural team builder, Anthony leads without autocracy. His avid interest in design dialogues has shaped the monthly Forum at the studio in Shahpur Jat where professionals from diverse creative fields present their work and exchange ideas on a common platform. Anthony has gone on stage to share his views at the Coalition, Kyoorius Design Yatra and The Sri Lanka Design Festival, addressed Wacom Conferences across the country, given talks at Design X Design Forum and Pecha Kucha’s ID 2014 Symposium. He has taught extensively at NIFT and NID. In August 2016, he spoke at Climb K2, Sophia College. His interest in design education has led to his appointment as the Chief Expert and Coach as well as Graphic Design Representative, India for the World Skill competition 2017.  He was recently appointed on the board of advisors for education at Pearl Academy and spoke at the Pearl: What Next 2017 conference which included 80 eminent designers of the country. His creative yen pushes him towards fresh challenges and he pursues radical directions in design relentlessly. His enthusiasm has also led to several joint social endeavors. Anthony believes “the why of what we do is more important than what we do”.  His response to today’s competitive market and an increasingly aware audience in India has directed the studio engagement to make relevant design for specific cultural contexts.

  • Jesper von Wieding

    Bibliography :

    Jesper von Wieding has a long international career working out of Copenhagen, Stockholm, Paris, San Francisco, within corporate identity, packaging design, product design, furniture design, interior design, architecture and social innovation projects.

    He is the Strategic Creative Director of Pearlfisher Copenhagen, co-founder of 3X, Scandinavian DesignLab and Scandinavian Design Group/FutureBrand.

    Jesper serves as a member of the board of Design denmark (Dd), the national design trade association. He is one of the co-founders of Danish Design Award, Vice-Chairman and Design Jury-Chairman of Creative Circle, the biggest annual advertising, design, and digital award in Denmark.

  • Hugo Timm

    Bibliography :

    Hugo Timm is director of Julia, a London based design practice founded in late 2008 with Valerio Di Lucente and Erwan Lhuissier. Bringing together graphic and spatial design, the studio collaborates with clients from the cultural sector on a broad range of projects, including typefaces, books, magazines, exhibitions, posters, websites and identities.

    Julia’s clients include the Institute of Contemporary Arts, Somerset House, Hayward, Whitechapel, Sternberg Press, CCS Bard (NY), Luma Foundation (France), British Council, Design Museum, Abraaj Group Art Prize, Condé Nast, Laurence King, and the Cyprus Pavilion at the Venice Biennale. The studio has taught in universities in the UK and abroad, including the Royal College of Art, CalArts (USA), Fachhochschule Düsseldorf (Germany), La Cambre (Belgium), ESAD-GV (France) and IUAV (Italy). Its work has been featured in several international publications and exhibitions.
